LUPTON CITY

Located just north of the Tennessee River, Lupton City was developed in the 1920s to provide homes for the workers employed by the adjacent textile mill. The community contained a grammar school, post office, and rare (at the time) amenities such as concrete sidewalks, a gym, a movie theater, and a swimming pool for residents.

Eventually, Lupton City departed from its industrial past and is now a thriving neighborhood in a growing city. Several new housing developments are planned for the area, with the population expected to grow in the next several years.

Lupton City has a strong neighborhood association that hosts events and gatherings throughout the year.

HILL CITY

Hill City is on the north shore of the Tennessee River, adjacent to Downtown Chattanooga. The neighborhood dates back to before the Civil War when it was one of the original African American neighborhoods of Chattanooga. Hill City was also the location of an important ferry crossing that connected the northern part of Hamilton County to Chattanooga.

Over the years, Hill City has become a diverse community with a park, a community garden, dozens of small businesses, and homes of all sizes.

Hill City has an active neighborhood association that meets regularly. Please attend the next meeting and get involved in this amazing community!
